CM005: Arbitration & Dispute Resolution

OVERVIEW

The program introduces students to dispute resolution methods with emphasize on Arbitration and Litigation. Commercial disputes often result in affecting business relationships adversely and proper dispute resolution tends to minimize the effects on such relationships. The Course will give students an advanced grasp on dispute resolution methods including latest knowledge gained in the field. The program also introduces; various legal systems functioning today in different parts of the world and international arbitration.

COURSE CONTENT

The program consists of seven modules,

Module 1: Principles of Arbitration.
Module 2: Law, Rules & Arbitration Process.
Module 3: Obligations, Responsibilities of the Tribunal and Parties, and Powers of the Arbitrators and the Courts.
Module 4: Interest, Costs and Essentials of an Award.
Module 5: Challenges, Appeals & Enforcement.
Module 6: Other dispute resolution methods.
Module 7: Litigation and jurisdictions.

COURSE LENGTH

There is no prescribed duration of the Course. However, Two hours per day study will normally complete the Course in 3 months. However, the duration is directly depend on the time spent and effort given to studies.

COURSE ASSESSMENT

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

⦁ English Pass in IGCSE, and
⦁ IGCSE or similar with 6 subjects including a Pass in Mathematics, and
⦁ An Engineering or Quantity Surveying, or Law Qualification, or
⦁ 3 years experience in an Engineering office, or Law Office, or
⦁ 2 years experience in a supervisory level in Construction, or in Legal Work.
Shown above are the minimum requirements to follow this Course. However, a Bachelors Degree will be desirable to follow the course at ease. Those who have differing qualifications and experience shall write to, registrar@academed.org, for exemptions or clearing any doubts prior to applying.
